Afghanistan is a country that has been devastated by war and its effects, dividing people and families for years.  With the purpose of bringing unity and harmony to Afghanis, IRFF-Bangladesh has partnered with a local NGO – AWC – to begin a microfinance program.  AWC has been successfully running microfinance programs for several years and is lending their expertise to IRFF-Bangladesh and its staff in the running of this program.

Beginning with 20 women, the program is planned to expand once a successful track record has been established.  Each woman is responsible for developing a profitable project and carrying it out with the funds that they receive from IRFF-Afghanistan.  As they do so, they will return a percentage of their profits to the organization to repay their loan plus the low interest rate, according to the agreed upon timetable.  This repaid money will then be used to bring the opportunity of this program to a new group of women.
